Pacific Highland™ Medium Grain Calrose Rice is a medium grain rice variety that has its roots traced back to the Calrose Rice from California. Once cooked, it becomes slightly soft and cling together thus making it ideal for dishes where the grains need to hold up, like sushi, risotto, or paella.  Pacific Highland™ Medium Grain Calrose Rice  has a very mild flavour and it can absorb any bold ingredients, such as herbs and spices, with ease. Pacific Highland™ Medium Grain Calrose Rice is ideal in your favourite Middle Eastern, Korean and Spanish cuisines and a good choice for delicious desserts.

Cooking Instructions

The Classic Method:

Step 1:  Rinse the rice using a fine mesh sieve or strainer with cold running water.

Step 2:  Soak the rice for up to an hour (optional).

Step 3: Pour water into the pot about 1 cup of basmati rice to (11⁄2 cups of water), add a tint of salt or oil (both optional), cover with a lid, and bring to a boil on medium heat.

Step 4:  Immediately turn down boiling water to a low simmer and let simmer, covered and undisturbed, for 15 minutes.

Step 5:  Turn off heat and let steam for 5 minutes.

Step 6:  Uncover, fluff with a fork and serve.
